Custom business cards can be expensive and you often need to buy them in bulk. However, it is quite easy to make your own business cards. It can be an inexpensive way to produce professional business cards that you can be proud of.

There are three main ways to make your own business cards. The first is to use a word processing program. They are included on most desktop and laptop computers. Some of the programs have business card templates built in, or you can create the cards in a word processing screen. You would need to purchase business card stock, and then print out the cards right from your home computer. Although this option is generally easy and you will only need to pay for the paper, you will find that your options for designing your card is limited. You will typically have no say in the colors that are used or the style of the card.

If you want a card that has more style, consider using a business card printing software package. These can be downloaded from the internet and are often free, at least for a trial period. These packages allow you a lot of creativity in designing your card. You can change the colors, fonts, borders or size of the card. You can add clip art or background images. Most software programs have pre-designed templates which allow you to simply plug in your personal information. These programs are easy to use. Once you have finished designing your card, you can either print it out on your home computer or save the image and take it to a print shop.

The third option is to utilize a company which allows you to design your own cards online and then the company will print them for you. Some of the bigger companies will only charge for shipping for your first order.

Making your own business cards is not difficult and you can tailor the cards to fit your business. You can make them in color schemes that match the rest of your advertising or include personal photos or logos. It is only your creativity that limits what designs you can put on your cards. Not only will you end up with cards that look great, but you will be able to do it without spending a lot of money.
