They both had a severe case of Chicken Pox, and strep throat to boot. They wined, cried, and scratched continuously. They didn't want to play much, they didn't want to eat, they were just all around miserable.I was at wits end trying to figure out what I was going to do for these kids for Easter. Easter Dinner wasn't really a problem, it just wasn't going to be as big and fancy as it normally would. But I knew the children were looking forward to finding Easter Baskets full of goodies and the usual egg hunt. However, a basket full of candy and such was going to be out of the question; I had to think of something different. My husband and I came up with the idea of having an egg hunt in the house. We knew it would be a little difficult, beings indoors wasn't as big as the outdoors. But believe it or not, we found some pretty interesting places to hide eggs. We nestled a couple within the entertainment center, and behind furniture. We had two in the bathroom and it took them forever to find the one in the soap dish. We even found some interesting places up high, like on book shelves and nick-knack stands, and even in plant containers. I can remember my daughter_ the youngest, asking how the Easter Bunny climbed way up there, pointing to the plant hanging on a hook. It was interesting and sort of funny to watch, making sure we didn't stare too long in the direction of the eggs, so as not to give it away. After the egg hunt, the children were getting tired, so they sat down and investigated all their new treasure within their Easter Baskets. The goodies we decided to fill their baskets with turned out to be a hit. There was a Barbie Doll with some new outfits, some matchbox cars, coloring books and crayons, sticker book albums, and fancy stickers for each, some girl themed and some boy themed. We also added some travel size activity books, Easter theme pencils and erasers, and a fuzzy rabbit for each. We did add a small amount of jelly beans and 1 large chocolate bunny to each basket, that could be saved for when the children felt better. The girls basket was tied with a big fancy pink bow, and the boys with a blue one. Then as an added little treat, each basket also contained a get well card from the Easter Bunny. Both children actually remember that Easter, and say it was one of their most favorites, even if they were sick. About the Author |
